Install 2380.exe Sharper Image

I only have the 1.01 software. My Sharper Image EC-WS115 5-Day Forecast weather station worked fine until March 2016. Now it says 'cannot connect to server; try again later'. I removed batteries, rebooted, all the usual steps, but no luck. I contacted RIPE and Foreca but they said to contact Sharper Image, which won't respond. Is there any newer software that connects to a different, active server? I've looked everywhere but all I can find is NIS01_INSTALL_2380.exe which is ver. 1.01.

CAUTION ON KITKAT HAVE A PROPER BACKUP BEFORE YOU UPDATE. NUMEROUS USERS HAVE HAD BOOTLOOP OR OTHER ISSUES. IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING THIS, PLEASE REFLASH THE FULL OFFICIAL ROM USING ODIN. OTHERWISE PERFORM A FACTORY RESET!!! FIRST SIDE EFFECT Flashing kitkat now will render the external SD almost useless for some apps. This is a new feature of kitkat where each app will need an extra permission for external sd. As such you will need an update from the app creator.

Nevertheless, Samsung stock apps are working fine. The is a fix for rooted user as we can change some permission stuff with root.

ROOTING WILL TRIP KNOX ON KITKAT. Please be warned on this new permission issue with kitkat before flashing. Rooted user can flash this to SECOND SIDE EFFECT KitKat ROM is detecting S View Cover Chipset, only Genuine Samsung S View Flipcover will working now. All counterfeit or any branded casing including Spigen SlimArmor View - S View function will stop working once update to KitKat ROM.' The is a fix for rooted user using exposed framework and the xposed app from here. ROOTING WILL TRIP KNOX ON KITKAT. Please be warned on this issue with kitkat before flashing.

THIRD SIDE EFFECT There will be no downgrading back to 4.3 roms anymore so the 2 above side effects is here to stay until someone fixes it. Only flash Kitkat if you have understood the above 2 side effects.

Flash any stock ROM including Kitkat officially or not with odin without rooting - won't trip knox. Officially phone came with MJ1 or older - root with URDLV won't trip knox. Officially phone came with MJ7 or later - root with any method will trip knox. Officially phone came with MJ1 but later updates to MJ7 with OTA/KIES/Odin and later - root with any method will trip knox.

Officially at MJ1 and rooted and update to any firmware excluding KitKat ROM using Mobile Odin Pro only - root will remain and won't trip the knox. KitKat cannot update via Mobile Odin as new bootloader required and will trip the knox once you root it only. Install any custom recovery and custom kernel will trip the knox. Mini Directory Post 01: This post - Announcements, Rules, How to get Help, Mini Directory CHANGELOG for page 1 - easier to track what's been updated. *CHECK HERE* first!! Shadowzephyr,Oct 2 2013, 10:00 PM Well my advice is before accepting your phone at the phone shop, there's a shortcut for 'one-stop center' self-test for almost everything that our phone has. This self-test is really useful, and a must-do before buying Samsung phone. In summary, we can test for: - LCD (Red, Green, Blue and Black button, Dimming) - Receiver, Vibration, Speaker, Sub key - Sensor (Accelerometer, Proximity, Barometer, Light, Gyroscope, Magnetic etc) - Touchscreen and S-Pen (Touch, TSP Hovering, Wacom Test, SPEN HOVERING) - Notification LED (LED button) - Camera (Mega cam and Front cam) - Infra Red (IR LED) I've tested every single button to make sure everything perfect. For example, during LCD Test (using Red, Green and Blue button), I carefully check if there's black/missing dot, and I will reject the phone if found any.

Just my 2 cent. This will be very helpful to anyone that plan to buy Note 3 or any Samsung phone in the future. Hbo1301,Oct 3 2013, 09:36 PM Hi. I have a question to ask. I bought a used note 3 from a forumer and i factory reset the phone. After rebooting, i went through all the activation process. Everything went well until the last screen where it states that an abnormal reset was perform on the device and it's needed to be confirm by login in using the previous samsung account registered on the device.

How can i bypass this procedure so that i can get a fresh start on the phone as if it was new? Thanx in advance. For the Note series, the main differentiator is the S-Pen using a Wacom active digitizer, and Samsung's nicely packaged software to take advantage of it across the OS. I personally like the workflow enhancement you get when your device can actually replace the paper notebook, so I am very keen for active digitizer devices, of which currently only the Note series has it in the smartphone/phablet form factor. Larger devices with active digitizers (Wacom or N-Trig) tend to be very expensive (RM5k++) tablets/convertibles from notebook manufacturers. First off, I want to put things in perspective.

I must state that we can no longer think of our devices as 'phones' but COMPUTERS. Therefore, since computers have been around for the last 60 years or so, there is nothing 'new' or 'innovative' to expect from our devices, except for 'faster, better, cheaper'. Maybe not cheaper but we have seen ASP (Average Selling Price) falling across the board. In 2002 - it was already speculated that your phone will become your computer: And because it is a computer, you have to treat it as such, ie regular backups, some periodic cleansing/factory reset and practice safe computing habits. Note that of course it is not to be compared with the CISC type computers of the Intel x86 desktop/notebook genre, but it is still a computer nonetheless of the RISC variety, specifically the ARM family, with a huge number of variations across manufacturers.

The focus of ARM is for performance per watt, which allows low power computing on the go which has been the dream of computing since its dawn. Anything else, feel free to contribute. Information will be added as it becomes available. *credits to Andrewtst for merging and adding background transparency to the main pic. • 13MP Rear-Facing Camera: Gracing the rear of the GALAXY Note 3 is a 13 megapixel wide-angle camera with Samsung Smart Stabilization, their take on Optical Image Stabilization. OIS uses hardware corrections to negate camera shake and provide sharp images. • Ultra HD (4K) Video Recording: 2013 is the year of the Ultra HDTVs and with them come a host of video recording capable cameras and smartphones to provide content. This means that video can be recorded on the GALAXY Note 3 and played back on an Ultra HDTV at 2160p. To put this in to perspective Ultra HD has a resolution of 3840 × 2160 (8.3 megapixels) which is 4 times the pixels of Full HD at 1920 × 1080 (2.1 megapixels).

• 2MP Front-Facing Camera: A discreet front-facing 2 megapixel camera will provide 1080p video during video chat. The greater the resolution, the better the video chat or call experience for your partner. But don't forget the dual-view option that allows you to also capture video using the rear-facing camera. • Full HD Display The GALAXY Note 3 has a new 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. The screen is bigger and brighter than that of the GALAXY Note 2 with a pixel density of 386 PPI. This means that you will not only have a crisper image but you won't have to squint at the screen under direct sunlight. The display is graced with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and should provide greater protection for the WACOM-enabled digitizer.

• Hi-Fi Audio The GALAXY Note 3 now supports 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Fi audio. In basic terms, you are now getting playback at studio quality levels. Before any argues a lack of subtle or no difference between current offerings of 16-bit/44.1kHz, your ears may not distinguish between them but your eyes do. Crazy I know!

But the human body is just one of those miracles of design we may never fully understand. • Adaptive Display and Sound Adaptive Display is a very simple. It changes the brightness or contrast of the screen depending on what you are viewing and the lighting conditions of your environment. This same technology will also adjust audio properties such as equalizer profiles based on the content you are experiencing. If you watch a YouTube video while cooking, the screen automatically switches to cinema and lowers the brightness while also switching from the default equalizer profile to one more suitable for movie playback. • Removable Battery and MicroSD Card Samsung stays the course despite the current trend by most tech companies to switch to a unibody design. This keeps the battery captive and forces you to send your smartphone in for a costly battery replacement.

It also limits your smartphone memory to whatever it shipped with. The GALAXY Note 3 has a removable 3200 mAh battery and allows for a swappable MicroSD card up to 64GB. I for one always have a backup battery and alternate MicroSD to match either a work or play profile. • 802.11ac WiFi This WiFi standard is essentially an updated version of 802.11n or Wireless-N. 802.11ac currently has speeds of 1.7 GHz, limited by current hardware, but can reach a real-world maximum of 2.5 GHz.

This means that the GALAXY Note 3 can work and play faster than most devices on the market provided you have a matching Wireless-AC router. • New Multitasking Options The GALAXY Note 3 now lets users do more with an enhanced Multi Window option. Owners can now launch the same app twice. Multi-Window also allows users drag and drop content, so it's easy to share from one window to another through quick command icons. • S Pen 3.0 The new S Pen reinvents and modernizes the classic note-taking experience by enabling everyday tasks with just one tap and click.

The advanced stylus is designed as a communication driver between the owner and their GALAXY Note 3. By creating essential input and control features, the S Pen plays an integral role in how one interacts with the GALAXY Note. • Air Command This quick access S Pen action lets owners quickly open up; Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, Pen Window. You can access this from anywhere on the GALAXY Note 3 screen by simply hovering the S Pen over the screen and pressing the button on the stylus. • S Finder This option allows a GALAXY Note 3 owner to search for memos, contacts, and notes. S Finder even recognizes handwriting and symbols.

The GALAXY Note 3 can even sync with and search through Evernote. • Pen Window This option allows a GALAXY Note 3 owner to draw a square anywhere on the app being viewed in order to pull up and fill the drawing with a number of commonly used apps, such as Calculator. • Anti-Theft Features Locate My Mobile displays the current location of the lost mobile on a map and tracks movement history during the last 12 hours. Lock My Mobile can remotely lock your mobile so that no one else can use the device. And finally, Ring My Mobile rings a bell for 1 minute at the highest volume regardless of the current sound settings. • WatchOn Smart Remote For those of you who had a chance to program and use WatchOn, you know that the GALAXY S4 effectively becomes a smart remote control rivaling the pricey remotes sold by TV accessory manufacturers. Now this feature is unleashed on the GALAXY Note 3 with its greatly improved screen promising to make the GALAXY Note 3 a powerful Smart Remote.

• Air Gestures This feature allows owners to control the GALAXY Note 3 by using gestures done over the upper part of the smartphone without ever making contact with the screen. Quick Glance lets you view basic notifications while the screen is off. Air Jump lets you scroll up or down in emails and webpages. Air Browse lets you browse images, webpages, songs, or memos. Air Call-Accept lets you accept calls by swiping over the sensor.

• Samsung KNOX For those of us who are security-minded and want to ensure that a stolen smartphone doesn't become a liability, it is welcome news that Samsung has brought a global-ready version of KNOX to the GALAXY Note 3. SamsungKNOX essentially separates your smartphone in to two parts; personal and business.

Install 2380.exe Sharper Image

Neither side can interact with the other. Samsung KNOX provides Platform Security, Application Security, Mobile Device Management and Samsung KNOX for Enterprise. • Smart Pause While some may call this feature gimmicky, those who have used Smart Pause on the GALAXY S4 know that this a great feature. Just like Samsung's smartphone flagship, the GALAXY Note 3 can pause video playback when you look away from the screen. Samsung has worked closely with content providers to ensure that features that were once limited to in-house apps can now control 3rd party apps. • S Voice With Hands Free S Voice has been upgraded and a feature called S Drive has been added.

S Drive is useful for those who must have constant access to their smartphone, even while driving. This feature does exist on the GALAXY Note 2 as Driving Mode which causes S Voice to read your texts, report who is calling, allows you to control your music player or open common applications by voice command. This option enables safer driving and, in some states, may save you from being ticketed by the police. • GALAXY Gear Although the GALAXY Gear is not a feature, I believe it will quickly become a must-have accessory. This is basically a tethered Smart Watch that uses S Relay to seamlessly transfer content and alerts from the GALAXY Note 3 to the GALAXY Gear and vice-versa. Beyond sharing content, the GALAXY Gear also controls the GALAXY Note 3 allowing you to send messages, make phone calls, request directions and a slew of other actions. The Samsung 3GB LPDDR3 mobile DRAM uses six of the industry's smallest 20-nanometer (nm) class* four gigabit (Gb) LPDDR3 chips, in a symmetrical structure of two sets of three chips stacked in a single package only 0.8 millimeters high. With a full line-up of package dimensions, Samsung's new ultra-slim memory solutions will enable thinner smartphone designs and allow for additional battery space, while offering a data transfer speed of up to 2,133 megabits per second (Mbps) per pin. More on the RAM: Note 3's RAM is 2,133Mbps, while the earlier RAM used by most 2Gb phones are at 1,600Mbps USB 3.0 - Micro USB 3.0 - world first!!!!

Why USB 3.0 - All phones to date have the USB 2.0 interface. This is rated at a max of 480Mbps. USB 3.0 is rated for 4.8Gbps, a 10 fold increase in theoretical maximum transmission speed. Your Gb's of will transfer much faster via USB 3.0 to your external storage device or PC. Of course you need a USB 3.0 port or compliant peripheral as well. Before the RDF kicks in, I'm given to understand that the Lightning connectors on idevices are still USB 2.0.

- Xeactorz.Oh, and if you’re worried about losing that micro B USB 3.0 cable and having no way to charge or manage files on your device, don’t be. Similar to those backward-compatible USB 3.0 flash drives, the Note 3 will allow you to connect a standard microUSB cable as well, so Samsung has every base covered. From left to right - stylus, SPEAKER GRILLE, micro USB 3.0 port. Galaxy Note 3 Conclusions: An Impressive OLED Display The Galaxy Note 3 continues the rapid and impressive improvement in OLED displays and technology. The first notable OLED Smartphone, the Google Nexus One, came in decidedly last place in our 2010 Smartphone Display Shoot-Out.

In a span of just a few years OLED display technology is now challenging and even exceeding the performance of the best LCDs across the board in brightness, contrast, color accuracy, color management, picture quality, screen uniformity, and viewing angles. OLEDs are also considerably thinner than LCDs but still cost considerably more to manufacture. The Galaxy Note 3 has the newest generation of OLED display technology.

The Lab tests show that it is better than the Note II in every measurement category, and also comparable or better than the display on the Galaxy S4. It has double the resolution of the Note II, which is a major improvement, but the most impressive advancement for the Note 3 is its significantly brighter screen, which hits an incredible 660 cd/m2 in high ambient light, the brightest mobile display we have ever tested in the Shoot-Out series. An impressive achievement for OLEDs!

- xenohawk - WiLYi PPI, DPI explanation. Timw90,Oct 2 2013, 01:18 PM Hi, new to forum here but been a note user for 3 years. Just changed from Note 1 to Note 3 last week.

Parents uses Note 2. We are a family of Notes so I have handled all of them. I would say the stylus of Note 3 is a big improvement. The tip is slightly rubbery thus creating a slight friction while you write. The feel is as if writing on paper. Whereas Note 1 and 2 slides across the scree. However, after long term use, the oil from finger and our face causes the the friction to reduce.

Wipe the screen clean with a cloth and you get that slight friction back. And due to the rubbery surface and friction, the tip will slowly wear off and I'm guessing that's why they provide 5 spare tip in the box. .Qualcomm achieves these enhancements in the QFE1100 by using a technology called Envelope Tracking.

Essentially, the hardware tracks changes in the radio frequency and adjusts the power amplifier accordingly. Unlike traditional methods which perpetually run at full power, or those that only adjust the level when the radio is barely active, this technology can limit power usage only to what is necessary at the moment of transmission. This not only reduces the amount of energy consumed for communication, but also significantly reduces leftover power that is needlessly converted into excess heat. Qualcomm claims this can reduce radio power consumption by up to 20% and heat production by up to 30%, all while improving the speed and reliability of the cellular signal. (180g) 5.92 oz. Hi guys, I just came back from the hands-on session of the Note 3. Here are the answers to the questions that some of you guys wanted me to ask Samsung. (Q)Does the Note 3 use Gorilla Glass for its display? If yes, which generation? (A)Gorilla Glass 3 (Q)Are there any advancements in the S Pen technology used in the Note 3? Is it still using Wacom tech like the Note 2? (A)The new S Pen reinvents and modernizes the classic note-taking experience by providing the ability to accomplish everyday tasks with just one click.

The advanced S Pen is designed to fully function as a communication driver between the phone and the user by creating essential input and control features. A simple click of the S Pen button while hovering over the screen introduces users to Air Command, a palette of five powerful features that truly make daily tasks easier and faster. With the Air Command feature, there is no need to toggle between screens, memorize commands or look up different menus. For these enhancements, the GALAXY Note 3 uses the Wacom technology and is capable of 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity for a better user experience.

The S Pen also features a changeable pen tip that is softer, which makes for a better handwriting experience. The S Pen on the GALAXY Note 3 can be detected from up to 1.7mm from the screen, an improvement from the GALAXY Note II. (Q)Is the Note 3 using a PenTile RGBG matrix? (A)The GALAXY Note 3 uses the Pentile RGBG matrix. (Q) How did Samsung manage to make the Note 3 lighter than the Note 2 despite the slight increase in display size and physical size? (A)The 5.7-inch screen Full HD Super AMOLED screen of the GALAXY Note 3 is larger than the previous GALAXY Note 2 device but because of the thin bezel, the overall size of the device stayed almost the same. The new Gorilla Glass on the GALAXY Note 3 helps to reduce its overall thickness and weight.

In addition, we also optimised the mechanical design and HW circuit placement which contributes to the slimmer and lighter design of the GALAXY Note 3. (Q)Will there wireless charging kits available for the Note 3? (A)There will be a Wireless Charger Cover for the GALAXY Note 3.

(Q) Can the Note 3 play 1080p 10bit video with flac? (A) 10bit video playback is not supported on the GALAXY Note 3. (Q)Does Samsung Mobile Singapore have the 7 days exchange policy for the Note 3 (1 to 1 brand new within 7 days at same place of purchase)? (A)This exchange policy is not available for the GALAXY Note 3. (Q) Is the USB cable bundled 3.0? (A) The USB is bundled 3.0.

(Q) Is there bundled S-Window case? Will it be available at launch? (A) We have the at launch the S View cover for the GALAXY Note 3. (Q) Though its stated to support microSD up to 64GB, is there a chance it can support 128GB memory cards? (A) It can only support up to 64GB.

(Q) Is the LED notification light on the Note 3 multi-color like the S4 and Note 2? (A)Yes, the LED notification light comes in different colours on the GALAXY Note 3. __________________ Thanks and regards, Sidney Tech Writer (HardwareZone) Any exclusive info related to mobile, please do not hesitate to reach out to me! Actually, is for us to decide if we like the multi-window option or not to - Pinterest/Facebook/Twitter users, people who actually do like to look at links on the web but not lose their threads - already find it useful in Notes 1 & 2. Instead of your own personal tastes, how about telling us what we need to know?

What about battery life? That battery sounds massive.

How about telling us about sound quality? Any changes to the home page?

How it feels to hold? Can you drop it?

Does it have gorrilla glass? What is the point/function of the octo core - how good is the super HD filming? Different people want different things from a smartphone - that's why there are so many. Benny888,Nov 12 2013, 09:50 AM I am very happy with the Note3.

I see absolutely no necessity to even flash any custom ROM. Present ROM n in fact since original default ROM has been excellent n is bugs free. Any bugs if have I have yet too find it. 4g is excellent n have recorded 30k to 45k download speeds at KL Hardware is excellent with no bexel n button issues as reported by some users. Only usb port inconsistent charging issue but now solved as is replaced under warranty from service center Presently on UK MJ7 ROM n phone is Knox triggered on first few days rooting using CF Root. Andrewtst,Oct 9 2013, 05:40 PM Same with you!:) After so many changes I do this year, finally I am stopping now.

All people surrounding me already though I am crazy or too rich.:stars: - Sony Xperia Z - one of the most stable Android phone I ever use, but I can't stand on it really bad viewing angle, I find it is low end phone screen panel. Sorry if I talk too over, that is my personal preferable, I love and need great display. Beside this, I shoot like hell on the Camera when I just bought it as it really too bad, lucky the camera quality do increase a lot after few firmware updates but the panel is hopeless, how great fine tune by Sony, it still can't be outstanding due to it TN characteristic. - Sony Xperia Z Ultra - I change to this as I find Sony finally use great display IPS on it, the screen panel is nice! But frank said, sometimes it do a bit troublesome due to it monster screen size, and the camera quality is crap like hell, my friend call it VGA camera. Then a big issue fake hang and SOD is really bother me, wonder why Sony implement that not so useful and only make screen even worst - backlight optimisation. I sold it after around a month usage only even though this phablet look sexy and screen is nice.

- XiaoMi Mi-2s - this is not my phone but lend by my friend, thanks he lend me, after using it, I just know how bad Sony in processing the photo output, this phone use same camera lens as Xperia Z, but the output is like comparing heaven and hell. The Mi-2s photo output is outstanding! - Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - as stable as Sony Xperia Z but with extreme awesome screen panel & great camera.

Don't forget it really useful S-Pen now. Note 3 is still plastic but is a well design and trick, Note 3 look as elegance as Sony now. All in all, really nothing I can complain on Note 3. I am truly satisfied with it. I believe this Note 3 can last long me until next year Note 4.:) unless something crazy things out before Note 4 then different talk:P but it seems less choices for me already, I feel I hardly can step back into Sony already unless Sony make some changes, use comparable with market great display panel, remove that stupid shattered proof sheet, I hate screen protector and I don't want to be force using back screen protector. Camera wise as long as it is same or better than Z1 quality, I got nothing much to complain on it. By only design and build, it can't serve me long and make me want to buy it again.

HTC wise, nothing is really impress me yet, even the HTC One as I dislike curve back design phone. LG wise, till date, none of their phone design is awesome even though LG is well making the phone performance solid and stable. As for those China brand, it still too earlier to adopt one. Shockk,Oct 9 2013, 04:35 PM More than 2 weeks of using Note III already. I have to say, it's the BEST Android phone ever. The S-Pen now is truly amazing. I actually LOVE taking 'notes' or just doodling on it now.

Fantastic device! It writes even somewhat better than a rollerball pen on my paper notebook. Only thing it can't rival is my fountain pen.:P And it's been like 1 week since I got the S View cover case. Best case, ever.

I have not touched neither the power button nor the home button ever since then. And it's just perfect for that quick glance at a message.:D Looking forward to 1 year of using this Note III, and then it's Note IV.:hehe.

Edtai,Oct 6 2013, 07:56 AM Brother, spending us or not the coffee is really a small matter. I stay in Setia Alam and we can share it. Just to share my experience with my my current devices: Note3, ipad4 and BB bold. However, Note3 is the best in term of reporting and communication in business. I can sign any document after receive it from mail box. I can write a report with the attachment with photos by Snote, then pdf and email it out in 5mins. BB used to be a good in business communication phone but other than better encription system it is inappropriate for business use today.

I have ipad4 also which is running ios7. No doubt it is very smooth machine beutiful interface system if with certain wallpapers. But then N3 win my heart when come to overall user experience, I go for N3 as I don't want to carry so many stuff with my hand and also the spen is very powerful now in Note3. Khaiandrew,Sep 27 2013, 11:55 AM I used the note 2 for almost a year, the first time you get the note 3 and turn it on you'd go WOW. The screen is just that much sharper, especially on such a huge screen.

It's so much snappier, although you won't notice it in whatsapp and fb for some reason:hmm: Camera is much improved, especially at night, the thing actually focuses properly, as compared to the note 2 which just keeps searching for AF lock. Battery however. After 2 days, I find that the note 3 is more power hungry than the note 2:( This could be cause I had a custom rom on the note 2 though, I was getting 6/7 hours of screen on time every day, with 18 hours of it being on. With the note 3 I'm only getting 4/5 hours:cry: HOWEVER, this is still my third day with the phone, and maybe it's cause I use the camera a lot throughout the day, and now I tend to watch youtube videos cause of the LTE.

So there you have it, a simple comparison:blush. Benny888,Sep 27 2013, 11:05 AM Those who have queried earlier this Note3 is a fantastic piece of gadget. I had never love the SPen as much as it now. Camera is great n snappy. Performance I can say is the best I have used n even better than my other XZU. I have posted benchmarks vs XZU yesterday.

Those who think XZU is too big this phone just right size for comfort pocketability. Third day using it n yet to find a single problem or bug. Battery life as of now easily match Note2 n appears slightly better.

Can only give better assessment after few more days full charge n usage However using app galaxy charging current I only recorded 1200mAh input on original cable, htc, Sony, blackberry cable.( using ipad 2.1A charger). Yet to use the original charger.

Similar figure using my blackberry Playbook car charger (2A). On Note2 n S4 I recorded 1800mAh. Shockk,Sep 26 2013, 11:59 AM A human being can only read 'so much' of text at any given time. Same reason why I don't find it a problem when I'm reading on either my phones.

When comparing my current Note III, iPhone 5 and XZU in terms of reading experience, they are pretty much the same. Just that more scrolling is required on iPhone 5, and picture viewing on web pages are just a bit nicer on XZU. Other than this, the Note III excels as a good in-betweener for what we can call 'the PERFECT screen size' in the phone world now. >BEWARE OF SCAMS/CONS/FAKES Pics of Counterfeits Or perhaps more politely, 'unbranded clones'. Reventon,Sep 26 2013, 04:10 PM Ok Summary of the value meal from purchasing Note 3.

Get it from here: The Play Store versions: This is the best way of detecting incoming charge current for your Galaxy Note 2 (also works on the S3). It does not seem to work on other devices. It reads a file here /sys/class/power_supply/battery/current_avg This provides an objective method to compare charging variances, and will help to narrow down slow charging issues.

Very often it is the cable, or a combination of a lousy charger with the cable. The Note needs a charger that outputs at least 1.5A (with GCC readings of 1400 and above) for good charging speeds. After extensive testing by forumers, and most notably brotan, good chargers output 1500 and above. Brotan has a supply of DUAL USB, DUAL 2A output chargers that have been tested working by several forumers. He also has original cables that can carry 2A current properly.

***When using GCC, you will only be able to see the reading of 1800 within a few seconds of unlocking your screen. After that, the next refresh will show only 1200*** This seems to be the same behaviour in the S4. It's likely a Qualcomm chipset feature. - brotan If you experience slow charging (ie normal is 2+ hours, anything longer than 3 hours is slow). I knew something was wrong when it took my phone 6 hours to charge from 22% to fully charged on the stock kernel, so I had my carrier swap my data cable. Swapping the data cable didn't fix the random slow charging issue.

If you view the battery stats under settings, your phone will indicate what kind of source it's getting its charge from. I discovered sometimes when you plug your phone in via the stock travel AC adapter, your phone detects it as a USB port.

It's not the charger that is the problem, but how Sammy designed the charger port or an error during the assembly process. I found a work around to avoid the phone thinking it's being plugged into a USB port. Once I initially lineup the data cable with the charger port, very very gently push down on the data cable as you fully insert it into the charger port. If you don't do so, it's usually a hit or miss when it comes down to what the phone will detect between AC and USB mode. This is the first phone that I own that seems to have this issue. Every since I've figured out what's been happening, I've been able without fail to avoid the slow charging issue. Note: Use GCC whenever you plug in and you can determine immediately whether it is charging as AC or USB.

USB will show a reading of 460 only. Re-insert your cable until it reads above 1000. Contacts backup and Restore to your Note 3. Settings >About Phone >Tap Build Number a few times >It will say your a developer now >Go back and you will see developer options above About Phone >Check USB Debugging option in Developer OptionsUSB debugging is mainly for developers, allowing them to use the android sdk (software development kit) to communicate with the device. However, USB debugging can be extremely useful as it allows us to use adb commands which can pull and push files to the device even when it does not boot correctly. Article text: We recently had the opportunity to review the Sony Xperia Tablet Z, an experience we enjoyed primarily because of the device’s innovative hardware: a 6.9mm-thick, 495g chassis that manages to squeeze water- and dust-resistance onto its list of features.

Pocketnow is currently in the midst of reviewing the BlackBerry Q10, a peculiar blend of yesterday’s design cues with a modern OS – and we’re enjoying the feeling of real physical keys under our thumbs again. The third-generation Apple iPad and Microsoft’s Surface RT also share space in our office, and we love the sturdy (if heavy) hardware feel of each. Other high points include the 4:3 aspect ratio of the former, and the capacity of the latter to transform into a faux-ultrabook when needed. They’re excellent pieces of hardware. What do these smartphones and tablets have in common? They’re all devices we have great things to say about. They all play an important, positive part in our day-to-day interactions with technology.

And, at one point or another, every single one of them demonstrates software lag.. Some comments: sggodsell • 21 hours ago The thing is people who use android don't understand where the lag can come from. First of all android is using a java virtual machine (dalvik VM) to run all the apps as well as the launcher. So each time an app is launched the dalvik VM has to load and compile the app.

In other words when the app is compiled the VM generates binary code that is native for the CPU/architecture that the VM is currently running on. Now there is a jit (Just in time compiler) as well to help speed things up.

There is so many advantages why Google an android took this approach. One of the major ones is that you are not tied to any CPU/architecture. That is why blackberry can run android apps. Also you see x86 android devices running android apps as well.

WP and.net are suppose to be kind of like java. However most developers compile the WP apps native to the platform. So the app will not work cross platform.

There is an advantage to doing this of course, and that is the apps will run faster since they are already complied for a particular CPU/architecture. Now android can do the same as well by making your app use native code for a particular CPU/architecture (ndk). But now the app is not cross platform any more. So basically the more ram and CPU you throw at android the better. Since most android phones nowadays offer high specs, then this isn't an issue anymore. Jay Monstrous • 2 days ago I know the perfect example of this.

I started playing the new Ironman game on my Galaxy Note 2. My friend was playing the same game on his iphone. His was lagging and I said how can you play with that lag. He had just gotten used to it. I used to be used to it too but after using a device with less lag, I don't think I would go back.

Herman • 4 days ago It reminds me of when I play games on my PC. People would come and say my games lag a lot.

The funny thing is: I don't notice a thing. I'm used to it, and I enjoy the games I play. I guess what I'm trying to say is, even with a bit of lag here and there you can still enjoy a device.

(Not that I like lag or anything, obviously). Perror,Sep 26 2013, 11:19 PM Hi guys, just thought to share some info on the handwriting bit. It seems like the panel to manage the handwriting settings is either gone or hidden. However, you can use the 'Direct pen input' function to bring up the older type of handwriting input panel which allows for faster writing compared to the new handwriting panel in the S-note app. Been using the 'Direct pen input' and it's a dream to use:) Just thought I share this bit and credit goes to a member in XDA-dev forum for pointing out the alternative:). Shockk,Oct 1 2013, 06:25 PM Hey everyone and TS joytest Wanna share my experience and some info with the original SView cover for the Note III.

I tested my white Note III with a black SView cover and the auto lock/unlock works including the SView feature but ONLY limited to when you are receiving calls. Everything else does NOT work unfortunately - like when u close the cover, the display on the SView window is blank. Now after changing to a white SView cover instead, every SView function works perfectly. So if u have a black or white Note III, u should get the same coloured SView the same as your Note III. As the other SView cover colours are not out yet besides black and white, I'm hoping that Samsung fixes this issue in a newer firmware.

Happy shopping for your SView cover!:D. Mohamadfazli,Oct 1 2013, 06:48 PM BB9900 to Note 3 is a big move. 1 - you moving from a keyboard to touch screen. You move to any touchscreen keyboard, you'll face the problem. 2 - you moving from a one-hand to a big phablet. One hand is not easy. But samsung has one-hand operation settings that you can use to help you do one-hand operations.

3 - you moving from an email-focused phone via BIS/BES to all-in smartphones. Reading manual probably not gonna help much. But at the end of the day, you just need to get used to it. Note 3 Operations - Part 2, T to Z This post will contain general tips and issues for the Note 3.

They are listed in Alphabetical order where it makes sense. Due to the very detailed listing of posts related to Wakelocks, it caused this post to hit the max character limit of 48k characters. Therefore it is split into 2 sections. V7/#0254 WiLyi,Oct 5 2013, 10:47 PM Guys, wanna share with you all some of my battery drainage this few days. Last 2 days my battery suddenly depleted very fast, almost 10% in an hour. After installing bbs and I found out in my partial kernel wakelocks, nlpcollector consume most of my battery and cause my phone awake time double of my deep sleep time. Upon Google abt it and I found out Google location service is the culprit.

Since I didn't use Google now, I disable Google location access from Google Now setting and location service in phone setting. Now my battery life is rock solid. Phone is really in deep sleep when it is not in use. So for those who face battery draining issue, maybe you all can look into it. V7/#1070 kuntakinte,Oct 8 2013, 09:12 AM Finally found the culprit for the significant overnight battery drain. To recap, I initially thought it was the facebook app that was causing this drain as it calls up more than a few hundred wakelocks overnight. But as destex has mentioned, it was highly unlikely the major cause of the CPU wakelocks because I still had my battery juice drained from 38% to 28% between 11pm to 4am with all forms of data connection off and fb notifications set to minimum Ran wakelock detector at 4 am again and found the culprit - it's the NLP wakelock under Google services.

A quick search reveals that NLP relates to some network locator and was then pinpointed to location services. Solution from XDA forum and it worked for me so far - Disable location services in settings - open your wifi settings, go to advance then uncheck 'always allow scanning' - open google now, disable location services there (xda forum even suggested to remove web history but in my experience, not necessary and I think web history is integral to the user experience of google now. Without it, its pointless) After that, my battery juice was a rock solid 21% all the way till 830am this morning. Seems like this issue affects android 4.3 significantly. V7/#1088 destEX,Oct 8 2013, 09:39 AM good work googling and trying to find a solution after identifying the culprit. Disabling location services is one of the method to fix it but it also disables other location based features like weather and temperature forecasts.

If you like those here's what i did to fix mine, also got them from xda in the app list, open 'google settings' app. Go to location, disable location reporting and location history. Go to android device manager and disable both both options. Try to identify your unwanted wakelock and minimize your alarm wake up. Leave your phone idle 4hrs or more than that ( you will get accurate reading BBS dumpfile) then check what's on your highest partial wakelock. Important, check your alarm and network as well. KWL nothing much you can do unless you know how to tweak your kernel such wake up threshold but please know what you're doing with tweak setting (battery life>stability>performance).

Three known cause that will shorten your battery life 1. Mobile data 2. Screen brightness 3. Scheduling / sync setting Unwanted battery drain: 1. Bad app(s) example IM or Monitoring app for instance, keep awake your phone (this may be vary, depend how well / good developer build that app). Jitshiong Since 2 h 17 m 53 s Awake (): 2 h 17 m 53 s (8273 s) Ratio: 100.0% Screen On (): 59 m 43 s (3583 s) Ratio: 43.3% To get accurate battery usage, provide idle dumpfile. Leave 3-4 hours then dump again here.

This dumpfile you got 59 m 43 s Screen On so your battery usage mixed up with wanted and unwanted wakelock. Roughly I can suggest to you to: 1. Change update interval for your email client. No further comment for this app 3. Disable Location setting in rom setting. Check your google map as well for auto check in.

Smongium1984,Oct 1 2013, 04:28 PM every time i check my battery, i had discovered that the wifi is always awake although i off it. After google bout it, seems like it is a new feature in android 4.3 to help get better accuracy on our location by scanning for nearby wifi. More about it in the link below and how to disable that feature. Essentially, for note 3 Go Settings -->Connection tab -->tap Wi-Fi -->tap menu button -->tap advanced -->uncheck Scanning always available this should turn off wifi entirely.

Sorry if this is known, new to 4.3 so jz sharing what i had found out. NOTE: IF you ever need to visit the Service Center, here is the link: You can select from the dropdowns and it will display a list based on selected geographic area. Item Defect description Type Thread/Post# Reported by Solved?

Vinnilaa,Oct 9 2013, 04:58 PM In regards to the purple smeared stain on my screen, the stain was spreading wider within a day. I brought it to Samsung Service Centre in One Utama and upon checking the technician said that the LED is cracked inside. I didn't see any visible crack on the screen and I don't think it is caused by any fall.

Apparently, if I leave it, the stain will spread and eventually the screen will go dead. According to the them, I must have pressed the screen hard till the LED cracked inside:stars: Seriously!!!! Since the screen is not under warranty, I have to fork out my own money RM680 to pay for the damage. I tried to argue it doesn't make sense for a new device to be so flimsy and as a user of Note 1, Note 2, Tab 7.7 and Note 10.1, I know the quality is not that bad. But, they can't do anything. I had no choice but to agree to change the screen using my own money. The device can be collected after 3 hours.

So, I will be going back to collect my device later. Anyway, advice to all who prefer to use the phone naked, please spend a bit of money to buy a case such as otterbox. As for me, I am going to sew a pouch with thick sponge to protect my phone.:x.

HEAT *** THIS IS NOT A DEFECT!!! *** Perception of 'Heat' Modern high performance mobile SoCs do generate heat.

This is an unavoidable result of more transistors, higher frequencies and more features. Some have posted about 'my phone feels very hot.' This is a QUALITATIVE statement with no numbers. Please provide QUANTITATIVE statements like 'my phone reached XX degrees when I was doing YY' Recommended apps are System Tuner, by 3C or Android Tuner, by 3C. These apps provide CPU Temperature which is the correct reading and NOT the Battery temperature which is the only reading most monitoring apps provide. The reported range of CPU temperature is from about 30C on idle or IM/light activity to about 60C to 63C while browsing and/or playing games.

Some users report a high of only about 45 degrees for their Note 3's regardless of activity. So DO NOT BE ALARMED if your Note 3 reaches 60 degrees. This temperature is uncomfortable to touch for more than 1 minute (or less for some) but Samsung seems to have alleviated this by placing the SoC at the topmost part of the device beside the camera module so that in portrait mode you don't actually feel it. So please provide QUANTITATIVE descriptions when posting about heat.

Legal Redress IF you ever need to file a Consumer Tribunal Complaint against a seller OR Samsung. The following posts are from the HTC One thread. Download Logon Screen Windows 7 Anime Skins. For some unfortunate reason, the HTC One was reported in its own thread with a lot of defects and a very large number of posts resulted from disappointed owners. Some offered tips on submitting claims to the Consumer Tribunal. It is hoped that we do not need to resort to such actions where Samsung is concerned. Jason,Oct 22 2013, 11:45 PM Well, there's no need to debate, you just need HTC to write you to say 1. Your unit has a camera hardware problem 2.

Your warranty is void because of. How much you have to pay to repair the camera hardware problem You just tell HTC, if they void your warranty, you want it in writing. AFTER you do that step either a. They give it to you in writing OR b.

Either way, you have a case with tribunal. With this letter, when you go tribunal, you will win already. Without the letter also you can win, because it is unlawful to void your warranty without a valid reason what. If its void, then they can give black and white stating why, if they cannot give a black and white document stating why then they are denying you warranty that you should rightfully get. If I sell you a Macbook Air, you delete Mac OS X and install Windows, and the screen spoil, I cannot deny you warranty right? Same logic bro.

EDIT: And HTC won't dare to lie in court, at least they didn't lie in my case, they admitted the original part number had a hardware issue. This section contains an explanation of what rooting is and some additional information FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING. READ THIS FIRST PLEASE.

After you've understood this post, proceed to the NEXT POST (Advanced Topics Part 2) for ROOTING INSTRUCTIONS. Introduction to Rooting - Part 1 - Theory Much of this post is compiled and written up by me based on reviews of various sources around the net and other sections of LYN. Sources and Contributors are duly acknowledged.

If you wish to reproduce this writeup please PM me that you are doing so and acknowledge me as well. A bit of evangelism before we begin: Read the comments for a feel of what people think after having read the article. Since we're actually going to discuss rooting, here is an article for you to understand why your phone is not supplied rooted out of the box: Rooting for Beginners - some general explanations and understanding The simple, non-sexy, non-flashy, techie answer: root gives you administrator (ie God) access to your device. Root DOES NOT change your phone in any other way. No speed-ups, no slowdowns, no other changes or magic. But it OPENS THE DOOR to magic:peace: Other answers using different metaphors.

Easiest Explanation EVER To Explain Root Vs Jailbreak Think of it like the Matrix: Jailbreaking is comparable to what Morpheus could do. He could bend the rules of the system to overcome certain restrictions, but was still bound to its rules. Rooting is what Neo could do. Not only could he bend the rules, he could completely break them an excerpt: Now while IOS users might consider jailbreaking their iPhone the same thing as Android users rooting their Android phones, there is a HUGE difference. In fact, you can't even compare jailbreaking to rooting, and here's why. Android out of the box allows users to install 3rd party apps (also known as sideloading), already allows you to install themes, and even allows you to install applications directly from your SD card or internal memory of your device. Everything that IOS users hope to accomplish with jailbreaking their device is already included as basic functionality within Android.

Does Rooting Void warranty? For Samsung phones, it's a yes and no answer. From the terms and conditions, rooting/flashing will void your warranty, but Samsung Malaysia is not strict about this. So far there have not been cases of Samsung rejecting rooted phones, but please be prudent and perform a Triangle Away counter reset and flash stock firmware before turning in your phone for warranty. UPDATE: The above paragraph applied to phones that arrived before Knox became a feature of Samsung firmware.

Currently, due to Knox and the Knox Warranty Flag (see Download mode pic below), it is HIGHLY LIKELY that Samsung will declare your WARRANTY VOID. Triangle Away DOES NOT WORK ON KNOX PHONES. If you live in the USA, rooting (of phones only) is legal as proclaimed by the Librarian of Congress, so you shouldn't have any issues with warranty.

The US legal system has not clearly defined what a 'tablet' is, so you can't root tablets. We don't know the case for 'phablets' Can rooting damage your phone? It is a one in a million chance.

If you are afraid of this slim chance, don't root. This usually happens due to PEBKAC issues. Therefore, if you are prone to PEBKAC, do not proceed. Please google PEBKAC for your OWN UNDERSTANDING AND PROTECTION. If you do not suffer from PEBKAC, then please ensure 1 very important thing: your download is NOT corrupt. For Windows, use this tool: Make sure that your file MD5 matches the one from the host site.

If the MD5 matches, your download is clean, and you may proceed. There may be cases where you will not have the MD5 from the host site. If that is the case, use this tool: Install it. Select default options, and then run 'Test archive' from the right click menu. Passing the test will give you a good indication your download is not corrupt. What is the Flash Counter and Triangle Away?

There is a counter in the phone that checks for flashing of custom ROMs. If you have flashed a custom kernel or ROM, the counter will increase. When you get into Download mode, it will show that the counter has increased. This tells Samsung that you have modified with your phone. You can reset this counter by using.

Triangle Away DOES NOT WORK ON KNOX PHONES. What is this about 'locked bootloaders'? As you have seen from the writeup above, the bootloader starts your device. In Samsung, it also contains some checking code to determine whether you have a modified recovery and/or kernel. However, Samsung did not lock down the bootloader. A locked down bootloader means you can't root, can't change recovery, kernel or ROM.

We all fervently hope Samsung continues in this fine tradition. Samsung has now locked bootloaders due to security requirements of Knox. Other manufacturers also practice bootloader locking as a so-called 'security measure' to protect, ostensibly, the user.

See link above about why your phone is not rooted out of the box. Here is a link to a post by an XDA forumer Also see by DooMLoRD, a recognized XDA developer, on his steps for unlocking the Sony bootloader. Warnings quoted from his post. Quote: For Xperia™ devices released 2013 or later (for example Xperia™ Z and Xperia™ ZL), the SD card of your device will be formatted and you will lose all content (for example photos, music, videos) when you unlock the boot loader. Sammobile - The Update text: UPDATE: While Samsung’s wordings aren’t very clear, it seems that the Galaxy Note 3 will actually be usable everywhere, but not before it is activated with a SIM from the region it was bought in. Once you activate it/use it with a local SIM, you’ll be able to visit other regions/travel abroad and use it with SIM cards from that particular region without issues.

This is likely to reduce grey imports by retailers and those who want to make a quick buck by importing the device and selling it at higher prices, as the retailer would have to open the box to activate it before selling it, which would make it less attractive to a buyer. However, until Samsung makes an even clearer statement, you probably should refrain from importing even a Note 3 that has been activated in its home region. AndroidCentral's article excerpt: Region-locked, except for when it's not The region-lock only kicks in if you first 'activate' it with a SIM from outside the list of approved countries. As it happens, the crucial factor is which SIM card you first use when you set up the phone. Lars from AllAboutSamsung.de was given information to this effect when he got in touch with Samsung Germany, and it's since been confirmed by Nirave Gondhia, who got his hands on additional Note 3s to test the theory.

A second Note 3, first 'activated' with a UK SIM, could then be used with a UAE SIM — the same one rejected by the first device. (This also explains what happened with our own unlocked Note 3. It was never region-locked, as we used our EE (UK) SIM to run through the initial setup.) So the region-lock only kicks in if you first 'activate' it — i.e., switch on the phone and run through setup — with a SIM from outside the list of approved countries. It's probably a measure designed to ensnare grey (unauthorized) importers of Samsung phones. And it means you should be very careful about which SIM card you use to activate any 'unlocked' Samsung phone from now on. SUMMARY OF THE WHOLE REGION LOCKING AFFAIR. Confuzan,Sep 28 2013, 11:49 PM joytest perhaps you want to post this article up regarding region locking.

Summary:- -note3 and other samsung flagships manufactured after july will have region locking in EU and US. -booting up for the first time in this phone must use EU/US sim cards. After the first activation, it will be sim unlocked.

-booting up for the first time with a sim card from non EU/US operators will lock the phone. Need to go to samsung service center to unlock. What this means:- -samsung wants to prevent parallel import from EU/US to other regions -AP set from EU/US will most likely be activated already before it can be used in other regions. - waveweaver **RECOMMENDATION: DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING IF YOU HAVE NOT UNDERSTOOD PART 1** BEFORE YOU FLASH. You will need the correct USB drivers for the Note 3. =>ROOTING AND KNOX Knox is a new security measure implemented by Samsung into their phones. It is only bad news to those of us that like to root our phones. Rooting a phone will trip knox counter from 0x0 to 0x1. You can check the knox counter in download mode. The bad news is unlike the previous flash counter, there is no way to reset this, thus this indication of warranty void will always be with your phone.

The good thing is that earlier version of bootloader have a back door to get root without tripping knox. Newer bootloader after that had closed this backdoor. For the first step into rooting, ALWAYS DISABLE REACTIVATION LOCK under settings >security. To find out if you have the safe bootloader, download from play store. Run that app. Getprop ro.bootloader If the result you get is N9005XXUBMJ1 or lower it is the safe bootloader.

If the result you get is N9005XXUDMJ7 or higher it is the unsafe bootloader and you got no way to root without tripping knox. If you have the unsafe bootloader just proceed to root using.

But be warn your knox will be tripped and you may risk your warranty. If you have the safe bootloader, please read on. Subsequent post is on how to safely root, update and flash custom rom.

INITIAL ROOTING METHOD WITHOUT TRIPPING KNOX Root De La Vega. The links are dead. But no worries we have our own mirrors.

Rooting Instructions 1. Disable reactivation lock under settings >security 2. Remove the external sdcard (if you have one) 3. Boot into bootloader mode (see methods above) 4. Load the correct AP file into the AP slot in Odin (find your AP version in post #2) 5. Load the correct CSC file into the CSC slot in Odin (find your CSC version in post #2) 6.

Click start in Odin, wait for it to fully flash 7. Let your device fully boot after flashing has completed 8.

Copy the contents of Root_de_la_Vega.zip to the root of the internal storage /My Computer/[Phone Name]/Phone/ root_de_la_vega.sh root_files (folder) 9. Reboot (very important!) 10.

After fully booting delete the files from the internal storage that were added previously /My Computer/[Phone Name]/Phone/ root_de_la_vega.sh root_files (folder) 11. Reboot (extremely important!) Reinsert the external sdcard (if you have one) That's all! Those that are still unrooted on MJ1 can just upgrade straight to ML2 to get root with this file.

Just flash it in AP using PC Odin and follow the remaining steps of RDLV to obtain root. There is no need to factory reset or flashing any other CSC (It comes with the required CSC already) MJ1 Links here courtesy eszol: Mirrors: Unconventional shady rooting methods.

Stryke_the_Orc (Last edited by Stryke_the_Orc; 2013-11-07 at 05:10 PM.) Kingo and vroot have been determined to be malware and unsafe for use, as such all threads will be closed and links removed. Thank you Edit - These applications have some security risks that are being looked into, user information, including device imei, is being sent to remote servers.

It is unclear the intent behind this. Xda has decided not to allow the methods mentioned above until everything is sorted out.

I don't know if it's true, but there's certainly cause for concern. Use vroot and kingo at your own risk. Vroot: either Google for Vroot or In Chinese it is 'Root da-shi'.

The changelog page shows which phones have been updated in their rooting tool. The XDA site is with instructions in English. Kingoapp in English. Kingo does provide a pretty polished website, and it's also a one-click root affair. Video of how to root with Kingoapp - Xirality - 2013-11-07. JTCH0gmRT0A ***CAUTION*** Because both these programs do not explain what they are exactly doing, nor is source provided, you STILL run the risk of tripping your Knox counter to 0x1. This happened with one of our forumers.

Antt00,Nov 11 2013, 11:54 AM Done updated to MJ7 and rooted. Knox still 0x0, i got no camera to show that now. Steps i did 1) Download full firmware from sammobile (Hotfile is super slow. ) 2) URDLV to get the patched system.img.ext4 and cache.img 3) Extract the original rom tar file 4) Delete aboot.mbn 5) Replace system.img.ext4 and cache.img (frankly i dun think cache.img is actually patched but oh well no harm just replacing it) with patched one 6) Repack to tar.md5 using cygwin cos i dun have linux.

DONE WARNING FLASHING CUSTOM ROM WILL ONLY TRIP KNOX IF THERE IS A CUSTOM KERNEL OR RECOVERY PACKAGED WITH IT. ENSURE THERE IS NONE.

DONE ***This post by benny888 in V6 is STILL VALID BUT WILL TRIP YOUR KNOX COUNTER!!!!*** Use the newer method ABOVE to avoid tripping the counter. **RECOMMENDATION: DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING UNTIL THE KNOX/Warranty flag issue is clarified** - waveweaver To root phone: IMPORTANT: make sure KIES is not running in PC and phone must have USB debugging enabled in developer options. Have developer options revealed by taping the build at settings/general/about device several times - you will see a small prompt until the developer options is shown at settings/general - from benny888 1. Install first USB phone drivers in PC: Just google in web for Samsung USB phone drivers - plenty of links 2. Download the CF Root file from XDA:Post # 3 at 3. The root file will be flash and process will complete in less than half a minute. Shadowzephyr,Oct 14 2013, 04:50 PM Ok, just done rooting my Note 3.

Big thanks for the temptation given from you guys since yesterday I can't resist to download the 1.16GB file this morning although using 1mbps Streamyx (currently at countryside). I have two questions to all: 1) Any other way to change system status from Custom to Official beside using Xposed Framework+Wanam Xposed or wiping? And is the wiping in this case means factory reset? 2) For the changes of CSC, I already download the N9005OLBBMI3_CSC.tar.md5 (86MB). Can anyone help me flashing this? Because from Odin v3.09 that we used for rooting, I can't seem to select CSC button, only AP button available. Also, the rooting video guide from post #8 () seems a bit misleading.

From the video, after he boots the device in Download mode and selecting the tar file under Odin, he tries to copy the root files inside internal storagee. Well, I mean what the heck? How can he copy the file when the phone under Download Mode?

And the step is messed up. The correct flow should be (as explain from XDA and post 8): - Boot the phone in Download Mode - Connect the cable - Open Odin, select the tar file under AP button - Click Start, wait until the flashing is complete - After phone complete flashing and reboot itself, and while the cable still connecting with the phone, copy the root files inside internal storage - Reboot - Delete the root files - Reboot again - Done My advice is to remove the video as it will confuse some beginner.

I'm also a bit confused when watching the video. Maybe we can change to other, but I can't help find a better one as my internet is slow. Download THE CORRECT FILE FOR SM-N9005 - CHOOSE THE CORRECT VERSION MATCHING YOUR CURRENT ROM: Also download the CORRECT CSC file since flashing this ROM will change your CSC. CORRECT files needed for BMJ1: N9005XXUBMJ1_VEGA.tar.md5 - AP N9005OLBBMI3_CSC.tar.md5 - CSC If you do not wish to flash your CSC, it's fine as well since it will only matter when you need to send in for service.

The information about CSC is credits to waveweaver and Andrewtst who first noted this Everything you need (Odin, sh file, the ROM file) is contained within the 7z file that you download. To open 7z files, please install 7-zip, one of the best, open sourced compression utilities ever. INSTRUCTIONS (verbatim from post 1 of the XDA thread) UPDATED: 2013-10-15 20:30 VERY IMPORTANT MAKE SURE that this =>Settings-General-Security 'Reactivation lock' must be Un-ticked to prevent the failure of flashing.

This operation recursively fixes all SElinux file markers in /data/data, which are spoiled by titanium during data restore. (Quote from vodkinagdan) User vodkinagdan found this solution: Simply execute this from the terminal emulator: su restorecon -R -v /data/data This has to be done after every restore (or batch of restores).

I take no credit for this but it works! Vodkinagdan has sent fix to Titanium Track.

Xposed Framework reverts the Custom status to Official This means that you need to pair correct kernel versions with ROM versions when you flash. Malaysian latest CSC can be obtained from here if your are missing some features.
